Most limo websites do not do a good enough job for their owners. Some are so poorly designed that I am often surprised that they help their owners generate any business. reviewed a number of limo websites and started to observe a number of problem areas that, if addressed, would really help drive the “goal” of a limo service’s web presence. In the next few posts, I’ll cover some of these areas in more details but today, I’ll focus this entry on a few offenders
Offender #1: Flash animations:
Flash is a good, sometimes great tool depending on where it is applied, but considering that most small business websites are created by the owners themselves or web designers working on a limited budget, the quality of flash on most of the limo websites I observe are pretty awful. The digital web objectives of a small limo site (we’ll cover this in a separate topic) are so focused that the capabilities of flash are just not required
Search engines like google will have great difficulties indexing the site
If the flash is not being designed with great care, it probably looks awful
Changing content becomes a longer and more expensive process
To put it bluntly, if you are planning to create a small limo website, don’t use flash. If you already have a site with flash, if you are thinking about using flash on your site, stop thinking about it, and if you already have a limo website with flash, stop using flash on your site.
